As a traditional fishing village, Porto Colom has retained much of its original charm. Everything is a little quieter and more idyllic here, where time almost seems to have stood still. The village nestles around one of the largest sheltered bays on the island, where colourful boathouses, the lighthouse and boats add to the picturesque look of the place. Porto Colom is a traditional holiday resort on Mallorca and therefore offers a large selection of hotels, bars and restaurants. The old town, located at the harbour, invites you to take a leisurely stroll through its tranquil alleyways, where you can also stop off at one or two excellent restaurants. The lively village of Santanyí (around 18 km to the south) with its colourful weekly market on Wednesdays and Saturdays also offers cosy restaurants, bars and boutiques. Although the beaches of Porto Colom are not located directly in the town centre, they are easy to reach from there. One of the most popular beaches on the Sa Punta peninsula is the beautiful S’Arenal beach with its famous Blue Bar. If you prefer a quieter and more secluded spot, you should visit the mini bay of S’Algar on the peninsula. This somewhat hidden bay is surrounded by rocky coasts and is a true oasis of peace that is hard to find anywhere else. The exclusive ‘Vall d’Or’ golf club can be reached in around 10 minutes by car.
